This Time I Know It's For Real (dj Tim a's dirty 80's club mix)

Donna Summer was a definitive icon of 70's disco, but regular listeners of mine know she has continued to make music that has topped the dance charts through and into the last decade. This little piece of bubble gum pop was a top 5 hit on billboard in the US. With it's disco flavor and her distinctive vocals, this was on my must mix list for some time. For lover's of 'glam-pop', the Nelson twins first album 'After The Rain' held so much promise. But everything they have released since is tired, folksy acoustic nothingness. But this one good album is full of chewy pop-rock goodness, including the title track, and this song which I've given a signature update.

I GOTTA 'Ray Of Light' FEELING!

Several friends have asked, how on earth did I think of this. Well, I originally had the idea of mashing "I Gotta Feeling" with "Luck Star", when I was vacationing recently in Mexico. The radio in the cab I was in played the two songs back to back and I actually was singing "Lucky Star" while the Black Eyed Peas were on. However, when I sat down at my lap-top, I could not locate a good Acapella of "Luck Star", but while browsing Madonna Acapellas, I found "Ray of Light" and started singing that with B.E.P.'s, and one thing led right to another.

They seem like a natural fit together.

This song was actually a personal favorite of mine, from Tom Petty. But I have been shocked by the crowd response when I play it. It suprises me to see how many people sing along. It was by know means a chart topper in its day, but it seems I am not the only person at a gay bar who appreciates vintage Tom Petty.
